Photos from a truly spectacular run in the Jonkershoek Mountains behind Stellenbosch yesterday in amazing conditions, a reminder (if we ever needed it!) of why we love trail running.
The route took us from the Panorama Trail parking lot, up the “Corkscrew” (if a pass has a name like that you got to know what you’re in for) to the skyline… at the top the early morning light was catching the mountains in a dramatic setting of dark cliff faces and white snow-filled ravines.
After warming up with a brief tea-stop we swung east to take in the snow capped Victoria Peak and its incredible views that spanned from Franschoek, to Du Toits Peak, Theewaterskloof, Hermanus, Somerset Sneeukop, and the Cape Peninsula, from Cape Point to Devils Peak and beyond… truly truly beautiful.
Down via the saddle and a riveting gentle downhill to get the mind working with the legs!
Thanks to Owen for introducing me to the Jonkershoek, and for some awesome shots.
